A Natural Recovery: Rebecca’s 8-Week Journey Using PEMF and Red Light Therapy After Breast Explant Surgery

For Rebecca, the decision to undergo breast implant explant surgery came after a long period of unexplained symptoms, including fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, and weight gain. Over time, she began to suspect that her implants were contributing to how she felt, a group of symptoms often described collectively as Breast Implant Illness (BII).

Wanting to give her body the best chance to recover naturally after surgery, Rebecca set out to take a holistic, balanced recovery approach, one focused on supporting her body’s own healing processes. Working closely with the CELLER8® team, she incorporated Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy and red light therapy into a structured eight-week recovery protocol designed to promote circulation, encourage cellular repair, and enhance overall wellbeing.

Using the CELLER8 Travel PEMF Mat Package and the CELLER8 Desktop Red Light Panel daily, Rebecca tracked her sleep, pain, swelling, and energy levels throughout her recovery, giving real insight into how consistent use of these technologies supported her progress.

This blog follows that journey, drawing from her personal recovery diary to explore how she used PEMF and red light therapy together, the changes she noticed along the way, and how the experience helped her reconnect with her body in a more natural, grounded way.

Week 1: Gentle Introduction & Early Response

The first week after surgery focused on gentle daily exposure to PEMF, gradually increasing it’s intensity from 50% to 100%, alongside daily red light therapy sessions with only ‘Blue & Red Light’ in the morning of the first 3 days, and then introducing ‘NIR’ in the later part of the week.

In her early diary entries, Rebecca recorded pain at 7/10 and severe swelling, with sleep around 5/10. By the end of the week, her swelling had reduced to moderate, pain had eased to 6/10, and she wrote that swelling on her left side had “completely gone down,” making sleep more comfortable.

Week 1 Snapshot:

- Pain: Dropped slightly, from 7/10 at the start of the week to 6/10 by the end.

- Sleep: Averaged around 5/10, showing early signs of improvement.

- Energy: Increased gradually from 3 to 5 as swelling reduced.

- Swelling: Severe at first, easing to moderate on the right side and completely gone on the left.

These first few days laid the groundwork with gentle, consistent exposure rather than intensity, allowing her body to adapt naturally to both therapies.

Week 2: Increased Exposure & Noticeable Improvement

By Week 2, Rebecca was using longer 20-minute sessions at 100 % PEMF intensity with morning and evening light exposure, only using ‘Red & NIR’ light if later that 6pm. Her sleep scores climbed from 6.5 to 8, energy rose from 4 to 6, and pain dropped from 5.5 to 3.

When she paused PEMF for two days during her menstrual cycle, she noticed discomfort returning and commented, “I could tell that my swelling and pain increased the two days of not using PEMF. After the first day back, my swelling was down by at least 50 %, my sleep improved, and energy levels went up!”

Week 2 Snapshot:

- Pain: Fell more noticeably, from 5.5/10 to 3/10.

- Sleep: Improved significantly, climbing from 4.5 to 8/10 after resuming PEMF.

- Energy: Rose from 3.5 to 6/10 alongside better sleep.

- Swelling: Moderate at first, severe after missing a few days of PEMF, then reduced back to moderate by the end of the week.

The second week marked a turning point, not only in her physical recovery but in her awareness of how responsive her body was to daily, consistent PEMF use.

Week 3: Stability, Strength & Restored Comfort

With discomfort now minimal, Rebecca added extra sessions by using the controller as well as the mat to support circulation and balance. By midweek she reported pain at just 2, mild swelling, and energy at 7/10. Sleep improved to 8.5/10, and she wrote, “Almost all swelling feels better.”

She also noticed greater comfort on the days that she added a second PEMF session, reinforcing how well her body responded to consistent use.

Week 3 Snapshot:

- Pain: Continued to decrease from 3/10 to 2/10.

- Sleep: Improved again, rising from 7 to 8.5/10.

- Energy: Remained stable between 6 and 7/10.

- Swelling: Mild throughout, with overall comfort much improved.

By the end of Week 3, her routine felt sustainable, daily sessions were helping her regain strength, balance, and confidence in her healing progress.

Week 4: Settling Into Balance

By Week 4, Rebecca’s recovery had entered a phase of balance and momentum. She described her “natural sleep rhythms readjusting”, often asleep by 9:30 pm and waking refreshed. Her sleep averaged 8/10, energy 7/10, and pain was reduced to 0 by the end of this week.

She commented, “Still wowed by how amazing and gentle the healing is.”

Week 4 Snapshot:

- Pain: Fell to zero, with no discomfort by the end of the week.

- Sleep: Averaged between 7 and 8.5/10, showing deeper and more restful patterns.

- Energy: Stayed high and consistent, between 6 and 9/10.

- Swelling: Very mild and only visible; no tightness or restriction.

Week 4 marked the point where recovery became rhythm, her sessions were no longer just part of a recovery plan, but part of her day-to-day wellbeing.

Week 5: The Power of Consistency

At the start of Week 5, Rebecca was in a strong place, her pain was 0, sleep 9/10, and energy averaging around 8/10. This week however she travelled and said she was unable to use her devices, she said that during this week she “Really noticed the effects of not using the PEMF and red light whilst away.” She also noted that her sleep was really poor.

Week 5 Snapshot:

- Pain: Remained at zero during start of the week

- Sleep: Rated around 9/10 before travelling, but dropped noticeably while away from her PEMF and red light routine.

- Energy: Stayed between 7 and 9/10 prior to her trip.

- Swelling: None or barely noticeable.

By the end of the week, Rebecca was ready to resume her daily sessions, a reminder that while progress had been strong, consistency was the key to sustaining that gentle, steady healing she’d come to rely on.

Week 6: Reaffirming the Benefits

Returning to her full routine brought instant results. Sleep jumped back to 9/10, energy rose to 8, and swelling again reduced to none. She said, “If I needed any more to convince me that the PEMF and red light combo works, this would be it.”

Week 6 Snapshot:

- Pain: Stayed at zero once therapy resumed.

- Sleep: Jumped back to 9/10 after returning to PEMF and red light sessions.

- Energy: Recovered quickly, increasing from 3/10 (while away) to 8/10.

- Swelling: Mild to no swelling throughout the week.

Week 6 highlighted the cumulative nature of her recovery, the results weren’t coincidence, they were consistency.

Week 7: Restored Rhythm and Reinforcement

After another short pause, Rebecca began Week 7 with sleep rating of 4/10 and mild swelling. Once she resumed the therapies, her sleep jumped to 9/10, pain fell to 0, and energy rose to 8. She said, “Proof that once the PEMF is used, the pain and swelling go quickly, and the sleep score goes up!”

Week 7 Snapshot:

- Pain: Reduced from 2/10 to none by the end of the week.

- Sleep: Improved dramatically, from 4–5/10 (after travel) to 9/10, her “best sleep in years.”

- Energy: Increased from 4 to 8/10 as she resumed her full routine.

- Swelling: Slightly visible early in the week, minimal by the end.

By the end of the week, Rebecca described having some of her best sleep “in years,” feeling fully back in rhythm both physically and mentally.

Week 8: Healing Complete

In the final week, Rebecca focused on her right side, the last area of mild tightness. Within days, swelling disappeared and pain remained at 0. She continued to use extra Night and Meditation modes to relax and unwind, calling them “the perfect end-of-day reset.”

Rebecca commented “By the end of week 8, all the pain and swelling were gone, and the scars looked visibly improved. My doctor even confirmed I haven’t developed any keloid scarring, which is amazing for my skin type.”

Week 8 Snapshot:

- Pain: Minimal to none throughout the final week.

- Sleep: Consistently high at 8–9/10.

- Energy: Steady between 6 and 8/10.

- Swelling: Fully resolved, with scars smooth and even.

By the end of Week 8, Rebecca’s body felt settled, balanced, and completely recovered, both visibly and in how she felt day to day.

Final Reflections

Rebecca’s eight-week recovery demonstrates how small, consistent habits can make a powerful difference.

“This experience has been completely life-changing. Having access to PEMF and red light therapies during my recovery has given me a level of healing and comfort I honestly don’t think I would have achieved otherwise. The PEMF, in particular, has become a cornerstone of my daily wellness routine, the difference in inflammation, pain levels, and even emotional balance is undeniable. In short, this experience has not only supported my recovery, but it has also elevated my wellbeing in ways I hadn’t expected.”

What began as a personal healing journey became a transformation, one that helped Rebecca restore energy, improve sleep, and reconnect with her body in a calm, natural way.
